Summaries of Selected RE-Ox®
Case Histories
Many of these case
studies and other RE-Ox®
documentation is available to qualified inquirers.
Restoration of Residuals and Reductions of DBPs due to RE-Ox use in
Chloraminated Wholesale Water
– A Texas wholesale water municipality and the Retail municipalities who
purchase and distribute the chloraminated water find RE-Ox restored
residuals and reduced DBPs and eliminated the need for a bioburn off
throughout the entire network. RE-Ox is seen as a better alternate than
ammonia (chloramination) to obtain residuals while maintaining DBPs
below MCLs.
Consistent Water Quality and Residuals restored in a Red Water Prone
Public Water System
– A Missouri water system used RE-Ox and flushing aggressively to
restore water quality. After the initial three month cleaning phase, at
only 1 / 80,000, RE-Ox is credited for maintaining the water system even
with its high iron load of almost 1 ppm. Additionally, water savings is
accruing as less flushing is required.
Chlorine Demand and TTHMs Reduced in Utility Water System
– A Kansas City area municipality found RE-Ox treatment reduced its
chlorine demand 16 – 31%, increased chlorine residuals, reduced TTHMs
66% and HAA5s 28%, while water quality was maintained/improved and
unsolicited customer compliments were received.
Reduction of Red Water Incidents / Customer Complaints
– An Oklahoma municipality used RE-Ox to reduce the iron deposits in
its system. This reduced customer complaints and increased chlorine
residuals.
High Water Quality, No Arsenic Desorption
– A Minnesota city is an EPA Arsenic Reduction Project site. By
using RE-Ox, residuals were restored, water quality was improved and any
arsenic harbored in distribution system deposition was not desorbed back
into the water at a measurable quantity as the deposition was removed.
Deposits Reduced in Pipe Retrieved from System: Pilot Study
– A Tennessee city municipality found RE-Ox treated water reduced
deposits up to 50% after 106 days. Daily sampling showed elevated
chlorine residuals and lower turbidity rates. RE-Ox is seen as a
replacement for phosphates.
Scale and Tuberculation Removed from Water Meters & Galvanized Pipe in
Chloraminated Water
- RE-Ox was used in chloraminated water to remove deposition from
tuberculated pipes and scaled water meters. Detailed testing showed
water quality and chlorine residuals were maintained, and turbidity did
not overly increase.
Deposition Elimination in Major Hospitals
– Deposition was controlled so that chlorine residuals in California
and Nevada hospitals were restored as RE-Ox reduced scale, films and
residues in water piping, fixtures and equipment. Water quality was
maintained throughout treatment. Testing showed RE-Ox did not add
consequential corrosivity, lead, copper, or DBPs to the water.
Deposit Reduction in Piping and Work Surfaces in Large Cook Plant
- RE-Ox was staged into a major California chicken cook plant water
supply resulting in all hot
and cold water lines being cleared of deposits by the fourth week. All
the plant water became a deposit removing agent. Films and mineral
scales were measurably reduced from equipment in many areas. Chemical
usage was able to be reduced.
Poultry Industry Findings: RE-Ox Removes and Prevents Inorganic and
Organic Deposits
- RE-Ox treated water use in poultry hatchery, egg laying and
production facilities eliminated scales, films and residues from water
piping, incubators, nozzles, evaporative cooling media and other plant
surfaces.
A Revolutionary Method of Deposit Removal and Prevention
– The engineering firm, Puckorius and Associates, concludes from its
laboratory and field testing that RE-Ox disrupts the organic matrix of
mineral scales and other deposit constituents in water systems, as can
no other known chemical approved and certified by the NSF for potable
water applications. The systems in which the RE-Ox-treated water is used
rapidly become cleaner and remain cleaner.
Evaporative Condenser Cleaning Challenge
- RE-Ox treatment removed particularly dense calcium carbonate
deposits from a badly fouled evaporative condenser. Three successive
deposit samples removed from the test tower showed a decrease in loss on
ignition, which can be assumed to be organic material.
Calcium Carbonate Scale Inhibitor
- Laboratory Experiments on RE-Ox - Laboratory results using a
dynamic scale tester to evaluate the capabilities of RE-Ox as an
inhibitor for calcium carbonate scale showed RE-Ox will release and
prevent scale. Method of action cited as the elimination of nucleation
sites.
